May 2007 Net Worth Snapshot

May was a super expensive month for us, but our net worth was bailed out by another strong month for the stock market which keeps setting new records.

Examples of some of the extra expenses we faced this month are: Having landscapers come out to do some work, which cost a bundle; My wife attending summer semester, which meant another full tuition and associated costs of books, lab fees, etc; My car’s registration needed to be renewed this month and in order to pass the inspection, I had to buy new tires.

Considering our expenses, we are very happy with the increase in our net worth.  It’s pretty exciting to put only $300 into my Roth IRA and see gains of nearly $1300.   That being said, the goal in stocks is to buy low and sell high.  The fact that I am buying and stocks are at all times high, doesn’t really seem to accomplish that goal.  But, while gains wont always come so easily, I still believe continued consistent investments is the correct strategy for the long term.
